The Science Museum offers two one-day courses for KS3 teachers.
‘Learning Outside the Classroom: science in informal settings’ will help you maximise learning during school visits and enable you to develop strategies to incorporate current learning theory in science and implement Learning Outside the Classroom requirements.
‘Effective discussions in How Science Works: Talk Science’ will support you in running great classroom discussions around topical science issues, and you’ll try out innovative teaching formats to inspire and facilitate discussion.
The cost for each course is £130 per person, including refreshments, lunch and goody bag.
Alongside these, check out the Museum’s highly successful STEM Clubs Scheme, an innovative programme that will support you in running or setting up a school STEM Club. Along a similar model is their new How Science Works Scheme. See the web link below for more details.
The Museum can also organise a bespoke practical, hands-on day for your staff, covering all you need to know about making the most of museums and embedding school trips into your classroom learning. Costs just £680 for up to 20 staff (refreshments not included).
All courses are delivered by the Museum’s experienced Learning Team and make use of the Museum’s unique facilities and resources. Each programme has been developed in consultation with teachers and educational specialists to ensure it will meet your needs and national priorities.
