Spellman HV Clean Tech Competition

The Clean Tech Competition is a unique, worldwide research and design challenge for pre-college youth. The program encourages scientific understanding of real-world issues and the integration of environmentally responsible energy sources. Each year, the Clean Tech Competition addresses an issue that is grounded in core technological competency areas and focuses on the next great engineering challenges. The competition is designed to foster a deeper understanding of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths) related concepts, recognise outstanding talent, and prepare the next generation of globally competitive innovators.

The Clean Tech Competition is a program of the Center for Science Teaching & Learning (CSTL).The Spellman HV Clean Tech Competition is an international research and design competition for 15-18 year old students that focuses on sustainability, with this year’s theme being “Reducing Individual Impacts.” Students compete in teams of 1-3, enter online at no charge and submit a 5-15 page paper that is judged by an international jury of engineers, professors and researchers.

From there we narrow it down to the top ten per category, and invite them to our Finals event where we have almost $60,000 to award to the teams, with every Finalist Team winning at least $1,000 and the top team per category winning $10,000.

The website for the competition is www.cstl.org/cleantech
