Do Try This at Home

We want to make it easy for parents and carers to get their children excited about physics.

That's why, as part of our Limit Less campaign, we've created Do Try This at Home, a series of fun science experiments for kids, with short demonstration videos and simple, step-by-step instructions.

Do Try This at Home is a new series of fun science experiments for primary school children, created by the Institute of Physics to aid home learning while many children can’t be in the classroom.

There are 14 easy-to-follow experiments, each with short demonstration videos, accompanying step-by-step-instructions and simple – but rigorously accurate – explanations.

As well as the 14 experiments, the Institute of Physics (IOP) has created a special Winter Activity Pack for KS2 teachers to share with their classes, containing experiments, challenges, games, facts and literacy-building features to help enrich the science curriculum – and make it fun and easy for children to learn at home.

Do Try This at Home has been created as part of IOP’s Limit Less campaign, which aims to support young people to change the world and fulfil their potential by doing physics.

The Winter Activity Pack and all the Do Try This at Home experiments can be found at www.iop.org/AtHome

Why not explore the Snowball Slingshot?

This winter one-off should be s-now trouble at all! Make your very own snowball launcher and put it to the test to uncover the science of sending snowballs soaring through the sky.
