Solarcentury Lesson1: How can solar energy make a difference?
The Solarcentury lessons have been developed in partnership with UYSEG and consist of a PowerPoint presentation and comprehensive teacher guidance. The target age group is students aged between 14 and 16 years.
'How can solar energy make a difference?' considers how kerosene lamps are used in Africa, the chemistry of combustion and the risks to people's health and and safety as a consequence of their use. Case studies showing how solar panels are used to provide electric lighting and how the UK charity, SolarAid aims to eradicate the kerosene lamp in Africa by 2020
