Solarcentury, together with SolarAid and in association with the University of York,
is proud to have developed these fantastic science resources for 14-16
year olds which will help answer questions such as these, teaching
pupils about the impacts and uses of solar photovoltaics (PV) in Africa
and the UK. These new resources have been designed to meet requirements
of the new Science Curriculum launched September 2015 and will be in
effect for 5 years.
The resources have been designed to provide teaching staff with
appealing and easy to use, interactive lesson plans and tasks to engage
your students and demonstrate the role solar can play in meeting the
world's energy requirements.
Analysis, evaluation and maths skills
The resources support the increased mathematical demand of the new CGSE specifications by providing opportunity for estimations and calculations of energy usage. They also provide information and data which can be adapted for students to analyse and evaluate.
The resources comprise outline lesson plans for three lessons and accompanying PowerPoint presentations. They can be downloaded from the Solarcentury website after registering.
