What's a synchrotron?
What's a synchrotron?
A synchrotron is a giant machine that can be described as a series of "super microscopes". It is housed in a futuristic doughnut-shaped building which covers the area of 5 football pitches. A set of interactive simulations have been created for teachers explaining the physics of the machine, including electric fields, electromagnetic radiation and vacuum properties. These resources are created by Diamond,
an advanced scientific facility in Oxfordshire, UK.
