Apps to the rescue: Part 1

Subject(s): Design and technology | Computing

Resources included: Educator notes, Student sheets, Presentation slides

Time: 50 minutes

Target age range: 11-14.

What technology can we use to help improve the healthcare sector? This module will help your students develop an understanding of mobile apps and how they can be used to detect, predict and adapt behaviour. They will analyse hidden sensors within smartphones and their relationship with mobile applications through two interactive activities.

This is the first of two modules on application-based healthcare. Apps to the rescue: Part 2 builds on the learning in this module by challenging students to consider how technology can improve the design of an asthma inhaler and come up with their own smart design.
